Idea For New Service Rifle
what do you think, i have idea to bin the SA 80 and replace it with something better; The walther g22 but in .223 cal. with 3o rd mag (not the standard 10 rd mag) with single, burst, full auto modes of fire.
I own one (the current .22lr) its a new version, it doesnt jamb and is very reliable and accurate.
even with a .223 version you could still have a space for the mag holder as well which makes mag changes very quick.

What about sights? You would need a laser designater/rangefinder type to get the right distance.

No, one of the X4 rectal red dots, they're better than the SOOSAT.

Yeah, it looks good and that but will it fit on a rifle? The new one I mean? does it go over the barrel or under it like when you tape a torch onto it?

Re: Idea For New Service Rifle
Its on the left side and ajustable but it is a bit heavy so sometime we just lay it on the left side when in the 'house' safety geezer says we look like gangsta lolz

Could work but it would be more like the Ruger Mini 14 and would suit the use of Militia/Security Forces rather than an official military service rifle. The "G556"(Walther G22 in 5.56) would need a grenade capable/bayonet lugged flash hider, A STANAG magazine(M16 type) insert that would enable the use of 20/30/40 round magazines alongside the 90 Rounder/100 round C-MAG drums, The ability to mound an underbarrel Grenade Launcher/Shotgun.
Most importantly, The G22 uses Blowback operation which works well with pistol rounds, The "G556" would need a Delayed-Blowback/Gas operaton as rifle rounds are more powerful and have to be locked in the chamber for a bit longer than pistol rounds when fired until the gas pressure reaches a safe level to extract and reload a new round. If normal Blowback operation was used with a rifle cartridge, The rifle would be dangerous as there will be a breech explosion.
